Embark on a Journey of Anthropological Exploration

Hello there! I’m Ashish Singh Panchal, and let me take you on a journey that began with a simple realization during my own academic pursuits in anthropology.

As a student delving into the fascinating world of anthropology and preparing for the UGC NET JRF examination, I encountered a common challenge faced by many in our discipline: the scarcity of comprehensive resources tailored specifically for academic growth and excellence. While the internet brimmed with information, much of it seemed scattered, lacking depth, or focused solely on exam-oriented content.

Driven by a passion for anthropology and a desire to bridge this gap, I embarked on a mission to curate a centralized platform that would serve as a beacon for fellow anthropology enthusiasts, students, researchers, and professionals alike. And thus, Observing The Mortals was born.

At its core, Observing The Mortals is more than just a platform—it’s a community-driven initiative dedicated to fostering academic growth, facilitating knowledge exchange, and promoting excellence in the field of anthropology. The name itself reflects our commitment to understanding humanity in all its complexities, nuances, and diversity.

Meet The Observer

Ashish Singh Panchal

Greetings ! I’m a Ph.D. research scholar with a fervent passion for exploring the intricate connections between neuroscience and anthropology. My academic journey has been a rich tapestry of diverse experiences, each contributing to my profound understanding of mental health and human behavior.

As a Ph.D. research scholar in Neuroscience, my focus revolves around unraveling the complexities of mental well-being. Armed with a solid foundation in Neuroscience, Anthropology, Psychological Anthropology, Philosophy, and Life Science, I’m driven by a relentless pursuit of understanding and addressing pressing mental health issues.

My academic journey began at Ramjas College, University of Delhi, where I pursued a B.Sc. in Life Science, graduating with a commendable CGPA. This laid the groundwork for my subsequent endeavours, including obtaining a master’s degree in Anthropology from Jubilee Hall / Hansraj College, University of Delhi where I delved deep into the realm of Non-Substance Addiction and its Impact on Mental Health.

Currently, I’m embarked on a Ph.D. journey in Neuroscience at the esteemed National Brain Research Centre (NBRC), where I’m actively engaged in critical research aimed at addressing critical issues in mental health and problematic digital behaviour(PDB). My research endeavours encompass a wide array of neuroscientific techniques and methodologies, with a focus on advancing our understanding of the human brain.

Throughout my academic journey, I’ve had the privilege of conducting extensive fieldwork and research endeavours, ranging from exploring population dynamics in rural villages to investigating the dynamics of Panchayat Elections. These experiences have honed my skills in ethnographic research, cultural sensitivity, and cross-cultural comparative analysis.

Beyond academia, I’m a voracious reader, a critical thinker, and a passionate advocate for mental health advocacy. I’m deeply invested in community service initiatives, volunteer work, and fostering interdisciplinary engagement through blogging and intellectual discourse.

As the initial observer at Observing The Mortals, I bring a wealth of academic expertise and a genuine passion for anthropology to the table. Through this platform, I aim to create a vibrant community where individuals can come together to explore, learn, and collaborate in the fascinating realm of anthropology.
